A native Chicagoan and Sarah Lawrence alum currently residing in the Greater Minneapolis area, 46-year-old Ava Spencer is known by many (she literally knows everyone) for her creativity and wit. An experienced event planner, public relations and marketing professional, Ava is a skilled writer, and consummate relationship builder. Throughout her career, she has created and implemented innovative and effective marketing campaigns and media strategies.
Prior to rolling the dice and relocating to Minneapolis (her all-time-favorite city), Monday through Friday, Ava could be found in the PR department at Urban Decay Cosmetics, pitching stories to the media, writing and editing press releases for seasonal launches, drafting newsletters, and developing fresh ideas to enhance brand visibility and maintain brand identity.
While Ava is a beauty industry insider, her skills are universally coveted and applicable across sectors. She is not only well-versed in the fundamentals of traditional media, social media and brand positioning, she understands how to get ahead of trends, in front of the news cycle, and what will ultimately resonate with consumers of all kinds. Whether pitching a service, soliciting donations, or selling products, Ava utilizes her industry savvy and relationship skills to create and promote compelling content that communicates value to a variety of audiences.
Ava is a creative thinker and strategist, accustomed to fast-paced environments. Although Ava consistently gives more than 100%, her professionalism is balanced with people skills, and a knack for building camaraderie in the workplace. (Training in acting and comedy at Chicago's Second City and Improv Olympic conservatories helped to sharpen her quick wit.)
Ava is currently looking for opportunities where she may utilize her creative skills towards an organization that truly moves her. She thrives when working as a part of a team of like-minded, salt-of the-earth people (not an easy feat in the PR and Marketing worlds).
